Blogging = Creating Emotion

Emotion is critical to blogging because it helps determine the depth of processing that takes place. Blogging works by establishing feelings, associations and memories in relations to a blog (if you see it as a brand like problogger.net or johnchow.com). These associations must come to mind when we think about a money making blog, ideally when we are considering a purchase from a blog or any commercial site, if they are have any effect on our behavior.

Emotion, by helping to stimulate and guide attention, helps create and reinforce the associations created by blogging activities. This is a learning process, but not the one that we are used to from university. In the context of most blog-advertising, particularly passively consumed media like Google Adsense and Widgetbucks, learning is incidental, not deliberate. They creates emotion on us

This is why people tell you they arenot influenced by advertising. They are not actively trying to take anything away from the experience, and therefore are not influenced at that time, but I’m pretty sure the effects will show up later, long after a paricular viewing experience is forgotten.
